“Learning Styles”

All learners have their strengths and weaknesses in the learning process.  Course participants will review learning styles, identify their own primary and secondary learning style preferences, develop lessons that incorporate all learning styles and understand how to vary their teaching strategies to meet the needs of all their students.  This is an interactive course.  Printed hand-outs included. 

3 hour course length:   Audience:  Teachers in all subjects and grades

*This can be a book study or can be combined with “personality” assessment for additional fees and/or full day course length.  See below.


“Classroom Dynamic – Blending Learning and Personality Styles”

This two part workshop explores learning styles and personality styles.  In addition to the “Learning Styles” course (see above description) participants will complete their own personality assessment.  Post assessment activities include personality type review, interactive assignments, and strategies for enhancing learning among all personalities that make up a classroom.

Audience:  teachers, support staff, administration

Course length:  6 hours.  Post workshop consulting/coaching available for additional fees. 


“Learning Strategies”

Teach your students how to capitalize on their strengths in learning.  Participants will identify their strengths in learning, develop lessons to meet the needs of their strengths in learning, and then deliver learning strategies to their students.  Learning strategies include:  activating prior knowledge, connect what you know, “what makes sense,” compare/contrast, peer tutoring, audio/visual support, note taking skills, reflection, content or test review, journaling, and resources for further exploration/extension.

Audience:  K-12 mainstream and Sheltered Instruction Teachers

Course length:  6 hours    (Mini course:  see:  Learning Styles or Teaching Strategies)


“Teaching Strategies”

Variety in the delivery of content material is the key to student success!

Course participants will review a number of strategies available to teach a particular content or subject.  Content delivery will include the basics of a good lesson plan,   classroom time management and lesson preparation, communicative classroom activities, homework/follow-up procedures, simple assessment, and content area culmination exercises.  Printed hand-outs included.

Audience:  New teachers in grades K-8; Veteran teachers changing grade levels, subject areas or serving ESL students.

Course length: 3 hours

*Strategies can be delivered based upon a pre-selected content area for additional fees.


“Successful Strategies for ESL Learners”

Build a language foundation then watch your students soar!

Course participants will learn how to deliver theme or content objectives through step by step instructional strategies.  Special emphasis on necessary visual support for second language learners will be addressed.  Participants will interactively learn strategies, then, design their own classroom activities and lessons.  Printed hand-outs and additional resources included.

Audience:  Teachers of all subjects and grades; ESL or sheltered instruction.

Course length: 3 hour.

This course can be a book study based on the teaching text:  “Principals of Language Learning and Teaching” by Doug Brown.  Additional fees would include one book per course participant and possible follow up training sessions. 


“ELL Strategies for Secondary Students”

Your secondary students have little time to learn English and master content objectives.  They must quickly acquire everyday vocabulary as well as academic content.  Course participants will learn strategies that prepare their students for mainstream class assignments.  Strategies are based on the book:  “Teaching Content to English Language Learners” by Jodi Reiss.

Audience:  MS/HS teachers in all subjects, Sheltered Instruction, ELL teachers

Course Length Choices:  1.5 hour, 3 Hours, 6 Hours.

Additional expense includes the book purchase for each participant. 

*Continuing book study can include “Teaching by Principles,” by H. Douglas Brown.


“Who Am I?”  A Study of Personality Styles and Team Interaction

Through individual personality assessment participants will learn their natural and adapted personality styles.  After testing and study of each personality style (Dominant, Influencing, Compliant, Stable) participants will complete interactive assignments resulting in the use of effective communication strategies with all personality styles and an understanding of the need for balanced work teams. 

Audience:  All teachers, staff, support staff, administrators.  Course length:  3-6 hours.


“Program Design Consultation and Teacher Training Package”

New literacy providers looking for successful model programs will benefit from this package!

Phase One consulting includes program pre-planning: site development, program goals, program advertising, student assessment and placement.

Phase Two will include program implementation:  teacher orientation, student registration, student orientation and then teacher training. 

*Classroom curriculum is recommended for overall program/student success.  Curriculum should be chosen before final teacher training commences.

Consulting and training fees based on need and quoted after initial consultation and needs assessment.

Customized program areas include:  Newcomer Centers, Sheltered Classrooms, Adult ESL, Serving Under-schooled Learners


"Financial Wellness!"

Prepare your students/employees for life AND IMPROVE employee performance by teaching them to eliminate financial stress so they can focus on their work.  Sound financial decisions pave the way to personal and professional success.  Learning how to save, spend wisely and achieve a no stress financial lifestyle are the goals of this course.  Based on the no nonsense principles of best selling author, Dave Ramsey, this course teaches necessary strategies for personal and family budgets that facilitate “The American Dream,”  (e.g., home ownership, college for kids, a stable retirement and more!)

Participants learn financial wellness strategies via the book:  “Total Money Makeover.”  The facilitator/trainer will assist participants in behavioral changes leading to debt elimination and smart budget planning for a happier lifestyle today and tomorrow!

This is NOT a commercial sales presentation for investment, insurance or banking products!

Course length: Minimum 4 hours with potential of 12-24 hours (Financial Peace@Work).  Course curriculum includes student book expense for:  “The Total Money Makeover” on a per student book cost. Additional fees may be negotiated for after lesson/after course consulting.

Audience:  High school students, parents, teachers, support staff, administration.
